Visual Emissions
(EPA Method 9 & 22)
The Federal opacity standards for various industries are found in 4O CPR Part 60 (Standards of Performance for New and Modified Stationary Sources) and 40 CFR Part 61 and 62 (Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants). These standards require the use of Reference Method 9 or Reference Method 22, contained in Appendix A of Part 60, for the determination of the level or frequency of visible emissions by trained observers.
Coastal employs qualified, certified visual emission observers to meet your Method 9 & 22 requirements.
RICE NESHAP
(40 CFR part 63 subpart ZZZ)
The National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Stationary Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (“RICE NESHAP”) limits emissions of toxic air pollutants from stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines.
The RICE NESHAP applies to stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines. Stationary engines are commonly used to generate electricity and to power pumps and compressors, and also in emergencies to produce electricity and pump water for flood and fire control. All sizes of stationary engines are covered by the rule.
Coastal personnel are experienced in testing Stationary Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines as well as completing and submitting all required paperwork.
EPA Method 5
(Determination of Particulate Matter Emissions from Stationary Sources)
Coastal operates a mobile laboratory outfitted with the equipment necessary to complete all particulate matter testing. Coastal is experienced in wet chemistry as well as

MATS
(Mercury & Air Toxics Standards)
On February 16, 2012, EPA published the Mercury and Toxics Standards (MATS) rule (40 CFR 63, Subpart UUUUU), establishing national emissions limitations and work practice standards for certain hazardous air pollutants (HAP) emitted from coal-fired and oil-fired electric utility steam generating units.
Compliance must be demonstrated, by means of performance testing, no later than 180 days after April 16, 2015 for existing units.
Coastal has geared up for all required MATS testing. More information regarding MATS testing and how it applies to your specific situation is available on our "News" page.
Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA)
The Relative Accuracy Test Audit procedures consist of two distinct and equally important functions. One function is the assessment of the quality of the CEMS data by estimating accuracy. The other function is the control and improvement of the quality of the CEMS data by implementing QC policies and corrective actions.
Since the companys's inception, Coastal has been completing RATAs for Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS). Coastal can perform RATAs for any CEMS. Coastal's goal is to perform RATAs efficiently and keep client's costs to a minimum.
